A patriotic tea classic created to honor Jean Sibelius' masterpiece.
The Finlandia anthem was playing in the background at the Independence Day concert when our tea master had the idea for a tea that celebrates Finnish identity. Mixing it caused a lot of headaches for the patriotic master, as the tea had to represent both the delicious Finnish flavors and the wonderful nature of Finland. In the end, he found the perfect combination, one that would make Topelius smile.
Finlandia tea is based on black and Tarry Lapsang Souchong tea, which has been smoked over resinous pine roots. It gives the tea a tarry taste. Cornflower lightens the heavy taste of Lapsang by bringing the national landscape of the Finnish meadow to this patriotic flavor combination. Finally, the tea master decided to add a delicate tartness of lemon to the whole to tie the best aspects of the ingredients together. Like swamp, hoe and Jussi, these flavors are inseparable.
