Traditional smoked Chinese black tea!
Lapsang Souchong is a big leafed black tea from province of Fujian, smoked in the traditional Chinese methods. Black tea leaves are first spread on a bamboo grill and then smoked by burning roots of pine and spruce underneath the grill, until the wanted level of smokiness is achieved.
Lapsang has been one of the English royal family’s favourites in the 17th century, but later it found its way also to the hearts of common people. At first Lapsang was sold only in drugstores, because it was seen as a medicine fit for the King.
This tea and lemon go beautifully together! Add a slice of lemon to the tea for a wonderfully balanced taste combination of sour fruit and rich smokiness. This is especially good with smoked food and as a dessert after spicy foods.
