Houjicha is a Japanese green tea in which green tea leaves and young stem growths are roasted. Since the tea is roasted and also contains tea stems, the caffeine in tea is low. Houjicha is therefore the right tea for the evening and for children.
But nothing prevents even adults from enjoying this evening tea at any time of the day!
The color of the drink is light copper, and the taste has a silky roastiness. Despite the light color, Houjicha is surprisingly rich and the aftertaste lingers. One of our customers has used the word "glamorous". Houjicha is also low in tannin, so it doesn't get bitter much.
As a food drink, this tea is suitable for e.g. with grilled fish, snails, pork, vegetables, rice, hazelnut pastries and biscuits. You can also try it with milk.
Green tea contains flavonoids and L-theanine. They help with stress, calm and improve concentration. L Theanine also produces a feeling of pleasure. Green tea supports weight loss by accelerating the metabolism.
